GOALS
Started out being ask to create team logos for a kid’s summer camp. Over the years the project scope evolved and changed into it’s identity with a reoccurring logos and similar themes.
PROCESS
Originally, the client wanted animal themed logos based off of names they had picked for their teams. I gave them sketches and then worked on refining the logos to get the final product. I made a screen package for them to use on multiple screens. The next year was similar but with different team names/animals.
The following year, we worked with the client to expand the design scope of the camp and focused more on a logo for Tribal Wars that could be easily transferred to multiple mediums including shirt, flags, and signage. That’s where the bright, neon synthwave logo came about. I also started experimenting with After Effects and seeing what I could create to make the announcements and team reveals more engaging.
The last year, we really started to understand how we could create something exciting, fun, and engaging for the kids. Taking from the elements, I created clean, line work team logos that could easily be used for merchandise and across mediums. I created bumper videos and a full announcement video, taking notes from all the cheesiest trailers.
SOLUTION
What started out as a simple one off project for a summer camp, turned into one of my favorite projects. I loved seeing where we started to where we ended. I took inspiration from retro, synthwave themes to dramatic movie/video game trailers to create a fully realized style and atmosphere for Tribal Wars.
ARCADE
This theme was based around the idea of an arcade. I started with a more theme-specific design and gravitated to a logo that would be easier to use for other themes. The client wanted something bright, vibrant, and eye catching that would look great on multiple mediums. After some sketching, a few digital comps, we landed on the retro, triangle logo. I created an opening teaser announcement video as well as team reveal videos.
ARENA
The most recent theme of Tribal Wars transformed into using the elements for the different teams. After brainstorming, sketches, and picking colors that worked well with all the logos, we decided on these minimal line logos. I created a teaser video as well as a short animation for a specific night at the event.
